Compliments of the new year!

That's my sign off line to people I've been emailing for the first time this year. :) What does it really mean? For me it just means i'm lazy to find out how they are doing and how their new year's going. And i also probably never sent them a message in the wee hours of the first day of 2013. Those close to me that I normally call or chat with daily are the ones I sent messages in the early hours of 2013 wishing them all the good things for 2013 Oh! That’s what this post is meant to be about What are the compliments for the New Year? (just saw my grammar/spell check wanted capitalization on new year- so it is a big thing…..) Almost everyone wishes the next person a happy new year And a prosperous one at that Seriously, wouldn’t you be happy with prosperity? I actually thought the compliments for the New Year should be along the lines of good health, better prospects, success at finishing that thing you started last year, finally DOING that thing you’ve been putting on every New Year’s resolution list, and all the nice stuff you’d wish to befall the next person you care about So what about my compliments on business emails to sometimes strangers? I do it to lighten the mood What if they never got a happy new year message from anyone in their contact list at work? Do you think they’ll even get time to be thinking about their resolutions whilst at work? Hardly likely unless they’re work resolutions Why do I say that? Because work-wise for the bulk of us, a new year is just a restart to last year’s cycle and not many of us look at that with open hands It’s most likely to be just another day and all the fanfare is forgotten and you need to come to speed with what’s now demanding your attention in the IN tray So sometimes it’s just nice to send that one email wishing people a happy new year and maybe thank them for the one past coz they made it what is was and without them you may not be feeling that light headed as you read your first email for the year I’m just saying send someone a happy new year email coz it’ll change the way they think you think about them It’ll be positive believe u me. HAPPY NEW YEAR! (it’s never late for someone you haven’t conversed with coz they don’t know how long your holiday was and how much time you spent going thru mails that came in whilst you were out of office. So make it THE FIRST email)
